Where the Rubber Meets the Heart

The Munising Bay Cruisers Car Show isn’t just about chrome, horsepower, and clean lines. It’s about giving back—to the people who’ve given everything. From the beginning, our mission has been rooted in honoring veterans, and thanks to the incredible support of our participants, sponsors, and volunteers, that mission keeps moving forward.

All Veterans Memorial – Munising, MI

This is where it all started. Our very first show in 2013 was created to raise funds for the local All Veterans Memorial on Veterans Drive—a place of reflection and honor for Alger County’s fallen and returning service members. For many of us, including our co-founder Gary Bovan, this memorial is personal. Gary lost his brother Paul in Vietnam, and that sacrifice is one of the reasons this event exists today.

The show continues to help maintain and enhance this local landmark so future generations understand the price of service and the value of remembrance. To date, we’ve raised $12,538.53 for the All Veterans Memorial.

Wounded Warrior Project (WWP)

Wounded Warrior Project provides life-changing programs and services for post-9/11 veterans living with the visible and invisible wounds of war. From mental health care and career counseling to peer support and adaptive sports, WWP is committed to helping veterans reclaim their lives after service.

Over the years, Munising Bay Cruisers has proudly donated a portion of event proceeds to this national organization, extending our impact beyond Alger County to support veterans across the country.

U.P. Honor Flight

This incredible program gives Upper Peninsula veterans a free, all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials dedicated to their service. Many of these veterans have never seen the Vietnam Wall, the WWII Memorial, or Arlington in person. U.P. Honor Flight makes that experience possible—and unforgettable.

In 2024, thanks to car show proceeds, the Munising Bay Cruisers donated $1,800 to U.P. Honor Flight. That money helped cover airfare, transportation, meals, jackets, and more for local veterans on what is often described as the most meaningful day of their lives.

We’ve also had the honor of seeing some of our own community members take part in these flights—including Munising’s Pete Lindquist, who served in the Air Force during the Vietnam era. His story, and others like it, are why we keep doing this.

Every Registration Counts

Every car entered and every sponsor spotlighted—it all helps us continue this mission. The Munising Bay Cruisers is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and every car registration fee goes directly toward these causes.
